15 More Persons Are Detained by Police in Connection With the University of Fort Hare Investigation.

Fifteen additional individuals have been taken into custody by police in relation to the murder and attempted murder investigation at University of Fort Hare.

Richard Vesele, the vice chancellor of the university’s bodyguard, and his second bodyguard were assassinated last year.

Over the Easter weekend, the 15 accused were taken into custody on suspicion of fraud, corruption, kidnapping, murder, and attempted murder in a number of locations around the nation, including Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, and the Western Cape.

They are scheduled to appear in court for the first time on Tuesday, April 02, 2024 at the Eastern Cape’s Dimbaza Magistrate’s Court.

The task team will continue to carry out its duties without fear or favor, according to General Fannie Masemola, the National Commissioner of the SAPS, according to police spokesman Athlenda Mathe.

“The Minister of Police, General Bheki Cele and the National Commissioner of the SAPS, General Fannie Masemola are expected to attend court proceedings on Tuesday,” she stated.

There are currently 25 accused parties in this case.
