A Former Kaizer Chiefs Player was Accused of Lying About Why He Declined a Bafana Bafana Call-Up

Following the conclusion of their FIFA Series in Algeria, Bafana Bafana will make their way back to South Africa.

Bafana maintained their recent perfect record in regular time despite losing all of their games.

In the opening match, Bafana and Andorra drew 1-1. On the one hand, losing to the Europeans—who had lost their previous fifteen games—was an embarrassing outcome. Conversely, head coach Hugo Broos was pleased to see his entire team.

At first, Broos had included ten more faces. Among them were reputed club targets Elias Mokwana and Goodman Mosele, a midfielder for the Orlando Pirates who was on loan back. Some names that sprang out were Iqraam Rayners, Khanyisa Mayo, and Grant Margerman.

Broos also brought in two brand-new players, Mlondi Mbanjwa and Siyabonga Ngezana, to his squad. Mbanjwa, the AmaZulu star, went on to debut for Bafana, but not for Ngezana. The former star of Kaizer Chiefs was first called up to the side, but he chose not to go to join them. He later gave an explanation for his decision to leave the team. Belgian strategist was a little irritated by this.

He wasn’t the only one irritated; several South Africans thought Ngezana wasn’t telling the truth. They thought that because his team, FCSB, is presently participating in the league playoffs, he had no intention of joining Bafana. Now, that might very well be the case, according to Botsang Moiloa, a diplomacy expert.

Ngezana Lied About the Bafana Bafana Snub?

We were told of a Bafana player who lost his passport and ended up getting stuck in Romania. That he does not want to travel and play for Bafana in friendlies is something I agree with. You know, when I heard the story, I chuckled. That’s strange because, as I’ll explain, we have an embassy in Bucharest, Romania. It’s a national obligation, and let me tell you, South Africa is among the nations where we can grant you a valid passport in just one day. That individual would have received an emergency passport or travel document from our embassy. or even a legitimate passport, which would have been sent via the diplomatic route.
