A Policeman Has Been Detained After Kidnapping Two Teenage Cousins

In the course of their ongoing investigation into the kidnapping of the Mohammed cousins in Britain three weeks ago, police in the North West have detained one of their own.

While traveling to school, the two cousins, Zahraa Mohammed, 17, and Bataviya Mohammed, 19, were abducted outside a primary school.

The victims’ automobile was forced to halt when the suspects used a maroon Audi A3 to bump it from the front at the time of the incident.

The two adolescents were then coerced into one of the suspects’ cars at gunpoint.

One of two suspects detained in the most recent events is the police sergeant who was arrested on Tuesday. He is affiliated with the Letlhabile Detectives.

According to police spokeswoman Sabata Mokgwabone, the Sergeant was taken into custody after the multidisciplinary team assigned to look into the kidnapping of the Mohammed cousins completed its investigation.

“All the remaining six suspects are due to appear before the Brits Magistrates’ Court on Thursday,” Mokgwabone stated.

“A car that was purportedly used in the commission of the crime was also seized by the team.

“There are still six suspects under arrest. This comes after in-depth questioning cleared two of the six suspects who were first detained on Monday and allowed to go free.”

Two days after the kidnapping, Humphrey Martin, 48, the seventh suspect, was taken into custody in Johannesburg’s Naturena neighborhood.

On March 11, 18, and 25, 2024, he has already made appearances before the Brits Magistrates’ Court.
