A Witness in the Meyiwa Trial Describes How DNA Evidence Was Collected.

Witness in Meyiwa trial details collection of DNA evidence

Detective Keitumetse Portia Mashele has been called by the state to testify during the murder trial of Senzo Meyiwa at the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria.

Mashele has acknowledged that, after Bongani Ntanzi’s arrest on June 16, 2020, she was the one in charge of taking buccal DNA swabs from the accused number two.

Ntanzi is one of the five persons charged with the captain of the Bafana Bafana’s murder.

In 2014, Meyiwa was shot and killed while at Kelly Khumalo’s parents’ Vosloorus home on the East Rand of Gauteng.

Mashele claims that after swabbing both sides of his mouth, she put the evidence in a sealed kit and sealed it in a forensic bag.
