Derick Hougaard, a former flyhalf for the Springboks, has apparently spent the last two weeks in an East Rand mental health facility.
Retired Springbok Player Derick Hougaard Hospitalised
According to The Citizen, Derick Hougaard has relocated to a private mental health hospital from Louis Liebenberg’s Bronkhortsbaai residence. The legendary rugby player has undergone thorough testing to see if he has any brain damage and is receiving therapy for his medication addiction.
In February, the publication revealed that Liebenberg had employed a bodyguard to keep the rugby hero safe from himself. Liebenberg warned that if Hougaard is not closely monitored, “we will be picking up a dead Hougaard” since he was always looking for ways to fuel his drug addiction.
Additionally, 2Oceans previously disclosed that Liebenberg said the rugby player spent three months receiving assistance at a treatment facility in Stellenbosch. The newspaper continues, “From there, he flew back to Gauteng and apparently went to a pharmacy where he got pills again.”
Liebenberg continued by saying that the rugby player was receiving physical care and was living with him in an effort to regain his life.
Derick Hougaard Addictions?
In 2018, Karlien van Jaarsveld, the ex-wife of Derick Hougaard, made the allegation that their twin boys had gone “missing” while under his care. At the time, she stated in a Facebook post that Derick’s addiction to pills and alcohol limited his ability to supervise the kids to what the court ordered.
He’s been in danger multiple times because of her children’s lives. He has spent several times coming and going from rehabilitation facilities. I was so afraid about my kids’ safety at the stadium that I was overcome with anxiety.
On Sunday, February 18, Nuusflits revealed that singer Nadine Hoffeldt and Derick Hougaard had split up because of the latter’s claimed dependence on her.
Fans assumed Hoffeldt was talking to Hougaard even though she didn’t specify his name on her Facebook page on Sunday, February 18. The singer also made a suggestion that, in regards to the most recent rumors about her alleged breakup, she never received a call.
