An Educator Has Been Found Guilty of Deceiving the Department of Education.

A teacher who had defrauded the Department of Education was found guilty. In 2012, Collen Lekgoloane Mashweu, then 62, provided services to the Department of Education through her own business.

The Department lost R556,000 as a consequence. Masweu received a five-year sentence with an imprisonment or fine of R100,000 that was fully suspended. Up until the accused entered a guilty plea on ten counts of fraud and Public Service Act violations, the case was handled properly.
