Following Ashanti’s announcement of her pregnancy and engagement to the American rapper, Nelly and the singer are officially dating.
This occurs seven months after the pair made their relationship status public. After meeting in 2003 at the Grammy Awards, they went on to date for over ten years.
Ashanti told Essence, “This new year of my life is such a blessing full of love, hope, and anticipation.”
“Motherhood is something that I have looked forward to, and sharing this with my family, fiancé, and loyal fans, who have been so supportive of my career, is an amazing experience,” she stated.
In an Instagram video, Ashanti also disclosed that she was pregnant. At one point, someone asked her what she needed, to which she replied, “I’m gonna need about nine months.”
This will be Nelly’s fifth child and Ashanti’s first.
Additionally, Ashanti disclosed to Essence that she and Nelly are joint proprietors of Proov, a diagnostics company.
Before their romance was officially confirmed, the pair was seen out and about together. Ashanti carried a purse at the 2023 VMAs that had prints of her and Nelly’s faces.
Yes. Regarding their relationship, Nelly stated on Boss Moves With Rasheeda, “We cool again.”
He went on:
“That startled us both, though, I believe. Nothing that was, like, I don’t think was planned happened. I believe that we were both doing essentially the same thing. However, occasionally, being apart helps you understand each other better.”
