Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge Collapse

A sizable container ship slammed Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge at 1:28 a.m. ET.

A number of vehicles, including a group of construction workers, were thrown into the sea when large portions of the bridge fell instantly.

– Rescue personnel estimate that there were up to 20 construction workers on the bridge, but they believe there were at least 7.

– The container ship Dali, flying the flag of Singapore, was heading from Baltimore to Sri Lanka. Significant damage was sustained by the ship, possibly including a hull breach.

– The collision’s cause was not immediately apparent. In the moments prior to the collision, the ship seemed to lose power.

Rescue efforts are still underway as of 4:15 a.m.

Following the destruction of portions of the Francis Scott Key Bridge by the Dali container ship, searches are currently underway for at least seven construction workers and three cars that are believed to have fallen into the Patapsco River.
