Bosa Promises to Cut 10 Government Agencies.

Mmusi Maimane, the head of Build One South Africa, has suggested reducing the number of ministries and departments in the government to ten.

President Cyril Ramaphosa cut the number of ministers from 36 to 28 in 2019.

On Wednesday, Maimane placed BOSA’s proposal to construct a capable state outside the Union Buildings.

Any president would find it simpler to keep ministers accountable, according to Maimane, if fewer people were involved.

“The problem we have right now is that there are too many ministries that don’t answer to anyone, and the Union Buildings incumbent went above and beyond to ensure that he creates a super presidency that eventually oversees everything without holding individual leaders accountable,”

Maimane also pledged to raise the mandatory prison term to 15 years for corruption convictions.

Establish ongoing forensic lifestyle audits of all politicians and top government officials via an Ethics Ombudsman. This will investigate bank accounts, debit card transactions, payments for school fees, trust accounts, and any financial transactions involving politicians.

“All senior government employees should sign performance contracts overseen by an outside service provider.

“Open up the cabinet appointment process so that the president can appoint the most qualified candidates—not just members of Parliament—to the cabinet.”
