Cavin Johnson Speaks out After Kaizer Chief’s Defeat

Kaizer Chiefs coach Cavin Johnson during a Nedbank Cup press conference at PSL headquarters in Johannesburg on Thursday.

Coach Cavin Johnson of Kaizer Chiefs believes that “his reputation is still intact” despite his team losing to Milford FC in the Motsepe Foundation Championship and exiting the Nedbank Cup. In a contest that was called “David vs. Goliath,” Amakhosi lost 5-4 on penalties on Sunday, resulting in yet another shocking elimination.

Johnson, who has been the Chiefs’ interim coach since October, has succeeded in somewhat improving the team’s situation, but the team’s loss to Milford might not win him over with the supporters. Do I now have to bear the weight of nine years as a coach? That’s a long time,” the Chiefs coach remarked.

To close the season on a high note and demonstrate to the public and people that we are building, we must do a thorough evaluation of what needs to be done to improve the season. According to Cavin Johnson, the Chiefs’ goal was to end the season with a high note.

“I’ve dropped similar games in the past. When you consider how the squad performed, I don’t think it will harm my reputation,” Johnson told the press.

Although the former Platinum Stars coach had a great career prior to joining the Chiefs, he acknowledged that his team committed tactical errors on Sunday against Milford.

“If we hadn’t attacked and tried to score goals, I would have claimed that my reputation would suffer.

“My reputation might have been in jeopardy if we committed tactical and technical errors, but I believe it is still intact,” Johnson stated.

The struggling Moroka Swallows will host Kaizer Chiefs the following Saturday.
