Crimes Connected to Elections Are Handled by North West Police.

According to police in the North West, they handled a number of complaints that were made on election day.

A complaint was started in Wolmaranstad when it was claimed that someone who was not included on the voter list was permitted to cast a ballot.

One Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) official is accused of stabbing another in Itsoseng.

A case of Electoral Act violation was opened at Bedwang police station, according to provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone, after a party agent allegedly tried to persuade a person to vote for a specific political party.

The prosecution will be presented with the docket today. According to Mokgwabone, “the suspect is an ANC (African National Congress) ward councillor.”

Speaking in the meantime, Tumelo Maruping, the ANC’s spokesperson for the North West, has refuted any misconduct regarding the role of one of their agents in pressuring someone to vote for the party.

“After learning that the individual was employed by the ANC during the day, the person who had observed him as a party agent during the voting period decided to file a complaint. However, that accusation is untrue.
