Despite All of the Country's Challenges, South African Emigrants are Coming Home More Often

Even though South Africa has a faltering economy and a high crime rate, a large number of foreigners who fled the nation in the middle of the 1990s are returning. As to a report published in The Times, the foreigners opted to cope with the challenging circumstances in the country and find happiness instead of extending their stay elsewhere.

According to the London-based journal, many South African professionals living abroad have reconsidered their decision due to the high cost of living in Britain and Europe, as well as the conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine.

South Africa was being considered as a destination for foreigners, despite its many shortcomings, such as load shedding, widespread corruption, and crime.

“With wars raging nearby, unchecked immigration, and rising living expenses, South Africans residing in the UK and Europe are growing more and more miserable on a daily basis.

The Times cited a Cape Town Lew Geffen Sotheby’s International Realty agent as saying, “At the end of the day, we all aspire to live a better life-style and will seek it out.”

Recently, a video of a South African expat residing in Ireland sharing his regrets about moving abroad has also become widely popular on social media.

“Working overseas is a pleasure, but it’s not always simple. You’ll have to start over and say goodbye to your friends and family. Making new acquaintances in this place is difficult, particularly for South Africans.

Before you leave the house, consider twice. Because you will receive worse treatment than garbage when you travel to another nation.Wishing you luck. I can now relate to it,” he remarked.
