During the #SenzoMeyiwaTrial, the defense read aloud a statement made by Sifiso Meyiwa, Senzo’s brother.

Dr. Irvin Khoza, the chairman of the Premier Soccer League and Orlando Pirates, is reported to have refuted allegations that Kelly Khumalo’s family house in Vosloorus had intruders on the night of Senzo Meyiwa’s murder on October 26, 2014.

Advocate Thulani Mngomezulu made a statement during the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial on Monday, April 22, at the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria.

Meyiwa’s Brother Alleges Pirates Chairman Irvin Khoza Denied There Were Intruders

According to a statement made by Sifiso Meyiwa, Meyiwa’s brother, he spoke with Khoza prior to the football player’s funeral.

According to Mngomezulu, who is defending Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya and Bongani Ntanzi, the first and second accused, Khoza told Meyiwa’s brother that the claim of intruders breaking into the house was untrue.

Sifiso claimed in his statement that on October 28, he was brought to the football club’s grounds by a Pirates staff member.

“Mr. Irvin Khoza arrived after some time. Mr. Khoza, myself, and his Porsche Cayenne-driving son. The statement said, “Mr. Khoza told me we were going to choose a coffin.”

Sifiso reported that Meyiwa’s wife, Mandisa Mkhize, was there at the funeral parlor when they arrived, and a casket had been selected.

“I want to say that Mr. Irvin Khoza informed me that robbers did not shoot Senzo.” These were Mr. Irvin Khoza’s exact words. “Boy, the intruders did not shoot Senzo.” Nobody broke into the house. Senzo was unintentionally shot. Zandi and her boyfriend got into a disagreement, the document said.

Khoza Denied the Claim

State prosecutor George Baloyi, however, alleges that Khoza provided a statement disputing Sifiso’s assertions.

“Mr Irvin Khoza enjoys no privileges not to come here and testify and refute this,” Mngomezulu retorted. He is able to be summoned to this location.

Longwe Twala Accused of Killing Senzo Meyiwa

Additionally, Mngomezulu disclosed that he will summon a witness to testify in court that he got a call from Meyiwa’s close friend Tumelo Madlala, who was there at the house, informing him that Meyiwa had been shot by Longwe Twala.

“Senzo was shot when he was separating Longwe (Twala) and Zandi (Khumalo) from the altercation we were in, based on the evidence I have as the defense.

“Longwe was intoxicated when he arrived at Kelly Khumalo’s residence and had a 38 special, a handgun, with him. Three shots were fired, and three persons were hurt as a result, according to my witnesses. Longwe shot himself in the ankle, killing Senzo, and the final shot landed on the ground. Consequently, Zandi suffered an injury.
