On Wednesday, February 21, the disgraced doctor Nandipha Magudumana, the girlfriend of the convicted murderer Thabo Bester, popularly known as the Facebook rapist, appeared in court at the Free State High Court in Bloemfontein.

This year saw the court debut of notorious criminal Thabo Bester and his partner, physician Nandipha Magudumana. After being discovered in Tanzania while evading capture together, the couple was taken into custody in April of the previous year.
Since the day of their most recent court case in October of last year, they have been imprisoned in different jails. These three events took place in court today:
- This morning, Dr. Nandipha Magudumana appeared in court from the Bizzah Makhate Correctional Centre located in Kroonstad. However, Thabo Bester was a resident of the Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Center in Pretoria, specifically the C-Max area. In contrast to previous court appearances where the couple appeared together, Magudumana disregarded Bester’s presence this time around, walking straight by him and the other co-accused without exchanging glances as she arrived on the dock.
- TshisaLIVE reports that after a drawn-out bail application, Bester, Magudumana, and Zanda Moyo will stay in detention while the remaining defendants were given bail, which was set at R10,000 per.
- It’s also reported that Bester’s attorney brought up concerns over the meals his client—a diabetic on long-term medication—was receiving.
POSTPONED CASE!
On June 5, Thabo Bester, Dr. Nandipha Magudumana, her father, and the other six co-accused are anticipated back in court.
They are all charged with a wide range of offenses, such as assisting, defaming, fraud, corruption, and violating a corpse. This is because Bester’s daring escape from the Mangaung Correctional Center in May 2022 was connected to them.
