A man in Marlboro who was connected to a previous commercial robbery was shot and killed by police on Wednesday.
When the suspects opened fire, police were chasing a car that had been used in the heist in Centurion.
JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla stated, “Five people from the vehicle exited while shooting at the officers, officers returned fire, one suspect suffered fatal injuries, and the other four managed to escape.”
He advised drivers to stay off Marlboro Drive and Pretoria Main Road on Wednesday afternoon during rush hour.
“There are significant delays in the region as a result of the closure of the roadway for the purpose of processing the scene.
“It is recommended that motorists take alternate routes.”
