Water contamination in Sebokeng Zone 7, Palm Springs, and portions of Everton has been confirmed by the Emfuleni Local Municipality.
On Saturday, the municipality sent out a message to the public advising people to exercise caution.
Technicians think that a collapsed sewer pipeline is what caused the contamination.
Makhosonke Sangweni, the assistant manager of Emfuleni, reports that water tankers have subsequently been sent to the impacted communities.
“We informed the residents that the water will be turned off right away, and we will provide their counselors access to the water truck timetable.
“We made a commitment that within 48 hours we would’ve resolved this matter, and our 48 hours ends today (Monda) so we are hoping that our technicians would have now resolved the matter.”
