Eskom Load Shedding Plan: Over the Easter Weekend, Lights Will be On

It has been confirmed by Eskom that load shedding would not resume until Easter Sunday. Good news for anyone planning to cook this weekend! Eskom, the power company, stated on Wednesday in an X post that load shedding will not resume until Easter Sunday.

According to Eskom, load shedding would continue until Sunday at 16:00 because of the continuous available generation capacity, the scheduled return to service of 2 300MW of generation capacity by Friday, and the anticipated low demand over the long weekend.

On Sunday afternoon, Eskom will give a weekly report or let people know if there are any big changes. Wednesday night’s evening peak demand is anticipated to be 27 465MW.

To lower demand, Eskom begged people to turn off non-essential appliances, especially between 17:00 and 21:00.

When updates happen, the MzansiTrust website will notify the public of the most recent advancements.

The demand for power will be lower as South Africa prepares for a four-day holiday weekend because many businesses and industries will be closed.
