Five are Killed by Russian Airstrikes in Northeastern Ukraine

President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Moscow of intentionally targeting civilians, and authorities reported that five people were killed by Russian airstrikes in northeastern Ukraine on Thursday.

The ongoing aerial bombardment of Ukraine by Russian forces has resulted in thousands of people losing power as a result of the frequent strikes on the nation’s electrical grid.

Four persons were murdered by drone assaults on Kharkiv, the second-largest city in Ukraine; among them were three rescuers who were reacting to an earlier hit, according to Mayor Igor Terekhov.

Interior Minister Igor Klymenko stated that the rescuers who died were 52, 32, and 41 years old. The casualty number four was a 68-year-old woman, according to the police.

Klymenko Reported That There Were at Least 12 More Injuries.

Zelensky wrote on social media, calling the terrorist attack “a despicable and cynical attack, where the terrorists attacked again when the rescuers arrived at the scene of the strike.”

According to the Ukrainian air force, Russia launched 20 “Shahed” drones, all designed in Iran, into the northeastern area over night. Of those, 11 were shot down.

The energy ministry reported that Moscow also attacked electricity facilities, killing a 47-year-old energy worker in an aerial bombing in the neighboring Sumy area.

Ukrainian leaders have called on their partners to provide more anti-aircraft defense systems, especially the more recent Patriot systems manufactured in the United States.

With a $60 billion budget proposal deadlocked in Congress and serious shortages of frontline troops, US military help to Ukraine has been diminishing.

Ukraine Was Accused by Russia of Attacking Residents in Areas It Had Taken Over.
