In Gqeberha Harbor, a Woman Drowns While Operating a Ford Ranger Into a Ship.

A 32-year-old Gqeberha harbor worker drowned early Thursday morning.

Early on Thursday morning, a bizarre event at the Gqeberha harbor in the Eastern Cape resulted in the death of a woman.

The incident occurred just before 4 a.m., according to Eastern Cape police, while the 32-year-old lady was working at the vehicle terminal.

According to reports, the woman was entering the vessel carrier (ship) while operating a Ford Ranger cab. According to witnesses, the car sped up and crashed into the harbor, according to Eastern Cape police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg.

“The woman drowned after the vehicle submerged because she was unable to escape.”

She claimed that the victim’s body had been found, and that her identity would not be released until her kin had been notified.

Humewood SAPS opened an inquest docket in order to conduct additional investigation.

A similar incident occurred in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands in March 2022 when a lady drowned when the car she was riding in washed down a low-level bridge.

According to emergency services, SAPS Search and Rescue found the body of the female passenger—who was thought to be in her late 20s—in the submerged car, which was around two meters below the surface.

Following calls to Pietermaritzburg Search and Rescue and Pietermaritzburg K9 Search and Rescue members to help Himeville SAPS with a body recovery, police said an inquest docket was started, according to Daily News.
