Infections with pink eye are increasing in KZN. The latest information from the KZN health department indicates that there are currently over 20,000 cases of pink eye infections.

In February, Mangosuthu University of Technology announced the first incidence of pink eye illness. The province anticipates a large number of travelers over the Easter weekends, given the approaching Easter long holiday.

The inflammation of the conjunctiva, a membrane lining the eyelid and eyeball, is known as pink eye. It spreads by coming into contact with contaminated secretions from the eye, and frequently within 24 to 48 hours, the second eye contracts the infection.
