Jose Riveiro Confirmed That DDC Star’s Orlando Pirates Debut is Imminent.

A young player who has been making an impression for the Orlando Pirates DDC squad is almost ready to make his senior debut, according to coach Jose Riveiro!

As the Orlando Pirates prepare for the Nedbank Cup, they have rediscovered their form at the ideal moment in the season.

This afternoon at Gqeberha, Pirates and Chippa United will play in the Nedbank Cup semifinals.

They will enter the match having scored 18 goals in their previous five games across all competitions. They also include the flamboyant Tshegofatso Mabasa in their ranks. With 13 goals in the league so far this season, the prolific striker is in great form. With three goals for Pirates already in the Nedbank Cup, he will be looking to carry that form into the competition.

If he is successful, Chippa will have little chance against the Pirates in the Nedbank Cup final. They have positive relationships with that particular team in the past. Both parties have benefited from those relationships in terms of player exchanges. Azola Matrose was involved in one of those conversations. Two seasons ago, the 21-year-old winger joined the Buccaneers from the Chilli Boys.

Matrose Signed a Chippa Pirates Deal

Matrose was then promptly loaned back to Chippa by the Pirates, where he played senior football and continued to grow. Others anticipated that the youthful midfield player would return for another loan stint after his successful one with the team in the previous campaign. To many’s astonishment, though, he remained with the Buccaneers, vowing to fight for his position.

Since then, Matrose has barely returned from a devastating injury that kept him out for the majority of the season. His match rhythm and level of fitness have improved because to the DStv Diski Challenge side. According to a report from this publication last month, the Pirates plan to loan the player out once more come football season. However, coach Jose Riveiro has provided an upbeat update on him in the interim.

Ready for the Senior Debut Pirates?

“Matrose, or Azola, is working really hard. He returned to the Pirates after the season began with a challenging injury, and it has taken him a while to play at his best. Now, though, he’s back in a positive place. He’s coming along quite nicely. I think he’s about at his finest right now. In training, he is performing exceptionally well and growing in maturity. We won’t be able to see him play for us for very long. As stated by Riveiro in FARPost.

Is Matrose going to make his Pirates debut this afternoon against Chippa?
