Kaizer Chiefs Are Holding Auditions for a New Captain

The captaincy auditions for Kaizer Chiefs are currently happening in response to the underwhelming returns of Keagan Dolly and Itumeleng Khune this season.

The possibility of Itumeleng Khune and Keagan Dolly departing Kaizer Chiefs at the end of the current campaign has made it possible to try out for the captaincy of the team the following year.

Dolly and Khune were named captain and vice captain at the beginning of the season, but they have combined to wear the armband in just six games this season.

In the final year of their contracts with the team, the two’s impact on the field has diminished.

Khune led his team in each of his five games this season, but he did not record a clean sheet. As a result, he was suspended for three months for violating club policy.

Bruce Bvuma has eight clean sheets in 11 games, thus his chances of playing again are dwindling.

As he negotiates the final year of his contract, Dolly has struggled with injuries and has not scored in eight games in which he has appeared.

This season, he has donned the armband just once.

Potential new captains now have the chance to raise their hands because of the sequence in which things have happened.

After leading the club for ten games, Brandon Petersen let the opportunity pass him by.

While Edmilson Dove had a chance in one game and is probably not going to stay at Naturena for the upcoming season, Yusuf Maart has proven himself as captain in eight games, providing him good measure to be taken into consideration.

Given Msimango, who captained Chiefs against Cape Town City on Saturday and against Stellenbosch FC at home on Tuesday, is the most recent player to enter the race. This expands the club’s possibilities for a new captain for the upcoming campaign.
