Kaizer Chiefs to go Another Season Without Winning a Trophy?

The Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs, whose supporters can hardly remember the last time the Cubs won a title, will likely go another season without any silverware. Amakhosi was humiliatingly eliminated from the Nedbank Cup on Sunday after losing to Milford FC at home on penalties in the Round of 32.

The Nedbank Cup has been won by Kaizer Chiefs a record 13 times, but not since 2013. Earlier in the season, the Glamour Boys lost 1-0 to AmaZulu in the first round of the Carling Knockout Cup, sending them packing. Although they haven’t won since 2010, Kaizer Chiefs have also won the competition a record 13 times.

Following their semifinal loss to Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs’ performance in this season’s MTN8 proved to be slightly better. A record 15 MTN8 titles have been won by Kaizer Chiefs, although none since 2014.

Amakhosi’s whole future is now dependent on winning the DStv Premiership in 2023–2024—an almost unachievable feat. Having played two more games than Masandawana, Kaizer Chiefs are currently in sixth place in the rankings, a massive 14 points behind log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

Despite having four league titles and being tied for second place overall with the Orlando Pirates, Amakhosi has not experienced success since the 2014–15 campaign.

After the club released the video on February 25, Kaizer Chiefs supporters attacked their team’s pre-match customs.

Together with Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs continue to be among the most prosperous teams in the nation. Kaizer Chiefs, despite their fame, had not played well in the last few years.

They haven’t been able to win big trophies like they used to, and they haven’t been able to compete with teams of comparable caliber. They have fired coaches on multiple occasions in an attempt to save the team but were unsuccessful.

Even in losses, Kaizer Chiefs supporters supported their team after all these years of disappointment. Some supporters are indeed expressing their displeasure and weariness with their club. In response, a fan identified as @Lwazi Ndovela called the team’s pre-match rituals absurd.

The Pre-Match Rituals of the Kaizer Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs shared on Instagram what their players did to prepare for the match against The Kaizer Chiefs players demonstrated their strength by dancing and singing in the tunnel.

Regretfully, some supporters were unwilling to accept this, particularly following a loss to Milford FC, whom they perceived as an easy opponent. Chiefs supporters are furious as their team lost 4-5 to Milford FC in a penalty shootout following a nil-all draw.

Nedbank Cup: Kaizer Chiefs 0-0 (4-5) Milford FC

Amakhosi will not be in the Nedbank Cup final 16, in contrast to rivals Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates.

On Sunday night at FNB, Chiefs hosted the Motsepe Foundation Championship (MFC) club. After one hour and thirty minutes, there was a goalless tie.

Amakhosi lost 4-5 as a result of penalty shootouts. Before Siphamandla Hleza, the goalkeeper for Milford, scored the winning goal and was named Man of the Match, Edson Castillo missed the second penalty kick.

Hleza Was Injured

Hleza’s coach disclosed the versatile star’s injury to the media following the game. Milford coach Dr. Xhanti Pupuma told FARPost, “It’s unfortunate that you guys only get to see him now; I have known him for years; he is insane.”

“Hleza is a typical modern goalie; when he wants to, he can even play striker.” He thus completes us. He hurt his finger on Monday, and believe it or not, he is actually playing with an injury.

However, we gave him a week’s break because, without him, we don’t play the way we want to play or look the same. So, on Sunday night, he simply confirmed to the rest of the world what I already knew.

“I’m delighted for him; I want him to savor this moment as it has been long overdue. “He’s had a lot going on, but he’s a boy I know from way back, so I’m really happy for him,” Dr. Pupuma said.
