As the EFF has pledged to double social grants if it wins power, Julius Malema has urged people to have more children. Julius Malema, the head of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), has urged people to have children by pledging to treble social grants.

On Human Rights Day, Malema made this statement in East London, Eastern Cape, during the unveiling of a provincial manifesto.

Malema Promises to Double Social Grants

Malema announced during the launch that the EFF would increase the child support award by twofold, from R510 to R1020.

Please don’t be a slacker. Instead of being lazy, have kids. He said, “Please get busy when we leave here,” to applause from the assembly. Having kids doesn’t matter if you’re impoverished or not! Malema stated, “We have to multiply ourselves and pass on a legacy to our children.”

People ask the Red Berets leader why he advocates for childbearing among the impoverished, he said.

“I come from a low-income background, but that doesn’t guarantee poverty in death.” You have the power to improve that family and make it better,” he continued.

On February 10, the EFF held the first launch of its electoral manifesto at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium. Malema declared at the launch that his party would make investments to support each person’s well-being and enable them to realize their full potential.

The party intends to increase social grants in order to accomplish this.

  • The monthly social grant for senior people will increase from R2 090 to R4 180.
  • The monthly payment for veterans of war will rise from R2 110 to R4 220.
  • The monthly grant for care dependency will rise from R2 090 to R4 180, while the monthly grant for disability will rise from R2 090 to R4 180.
  • The monthly award for foster care will rise from R1 130 to R2 260, while the monthly grant for child support would rise from R510 to R1 020.

Malema Demands Increase From the Government

Julius Malema also demanded an increase in social grants in 2023, citing South Africa’s high cost of living. The colorful leader claimed that because the current administration is unable to eradicate poverty and create jobs, the social assistance programs it has offered since 1994 have not had a significant influence on lowering poverty.

“In a country where the cost of living is increasing, no adult or child can survive and thrive on R350 or R450 per month less. Even the President’s dogs cannot subsist on R450 a month, he claimed.
