In KwaZulu-Natal, two additional individuals have been taken into custody for the production and possession of child pornography.
With this, there have now been 13 arrests related to child pornography.
Tuesday saw the arrest of the 12th suspect, who made an appearance in court last week.
Athlenda Mathe, a spokesman for the national police, stated that the 58-year-old male was discovered to have pictures and recordings of kids.
Images and conversations including information on boys who are willing to provide sexual favors for R2,500 were also included. The buyer has the option to drug the lads.
“The suspect is placed under remand in order to conduct additional research.
“A 62-year-old man, the twelfth suspect, was taken into custody on Wednesday after it was discovered that he had thousands of child pornographic photos and films that had been seized. Police discovered pictures of youngsters being sexually abused on his cellphone.
“The defendant has already shown up in Pinetown court. In both cases, the state will fight bail,” he declared.
In 2023, there were also arrests for child pornography in the Western Cape and Gauteng.
