According to TMZ, Diddy was recently detained on Monday night in New York and placed under federal detention.
According to sources who spoke with TMZ, Homeland Security raided Diddy’s hotel room in midtown late on Monday and took him into custody. Unverified rumors have it that the feds are looking into his hotel room.
Diddy was reportedly brought to the FBI Field Office located in Manhattan.
The action seems to have been related to the ongoing criminal investigation into allegations of sex trafficking and other charges, which resulted in the issuance and execution of search warrants at Diddy’s residences in Miami and Beverly Hills. As we previously reported, over the past few months, a grand jury has been hearing testimony from a variety of accusers.
“We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe to be an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office,” Marc Agnifilo, Diddy’s attorney, told TMZ. Over the course of the previous 30 years, Sean “Diddy” Combs—a music icon, self-made businessman, devoted family guy, and established philanthropist—has built an empire, cherished his kids, and strived to better the Black community.”
“He is an imperfect person, but he is not a criminal,” Agnifilo continues. To his credit, Mr. Combs has cooperated fully with the inquiry, moving to New York last week on his own will in anticipation of the charges. Please wait to make a decision until you have all the information. These actions are that of an innocent individual who has nothing to conceal and is eager to have his reputation cleared in court.”
