Samkelo Ndlovu, an actress, requested that the EFF prosecute former co-star David James for allegedly using the K-word against Brenda Ngxoli.

Samkelo Ndlovu, a former co-star of David James in Rhythm City, has petitioned the EFF to prosecute him. This came after actress Brenda Ngxoli said he had called her the “K-word” during a 2018 film shoot.

Over the weekend, Brenda revealed the information in a number of posts on social media.

The single mother claims that she declined to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) and that is why she decided to talk about the incident.

Brenda Ngxoli Defends Allegations About David James

Brenda Ngxoli described how her movie co-star David James reportedly mistreated her based on her race in posts on X and Instagram.

The alleged event happened on the set of the 2018 film Sew the Winter to My Skin.

“A fellow white actor named David James called me K**ir meit while we were filming this movie,” the actress revealed.

She continued, defending her choice to come forward six years later, saying, “I still remember. On the set, I sobbed while standing by myself.

“I told the assistant director (AD), Xolani (Jahmil) Qhubeka, and she gave me a cold, creamy soda.” I’m still standing by my truth today.

Co-star Rhythm City asks EFF for Assistance

Former Rhythm City actress Samkelo Ndlovu discussed David James, who also starred in the eTV soapie, in the comments section of Brenda Ngxoli’s post.

Samkelo portrayed the similarly contentious figure of Lerato Tselapedi, while David portrayed the villain Hermanus Meyer.

Using the EFF and its leader Julius Malema as targets, Samkelo wrote: “Brenda, I’m sorry you had to go through this. This is awful to hear.” I apologize as well for the way that made you feel. Racism will never be tolerated. Please help, @effsouthafrica @julius.malema.sello.

The call was not answered by the EFF yet.

Brenda was likewise sympathized with by other actresses.

Eve Rasimeni: “The producers treat us so badly because they fear getting blacklisted. This one is really poignant.

Ngomani Mirriam: “Astonishing! Continue to rise; you are powerful.

“I hope he gets the punishment he deserves,” said Thenjiwe Mosely.

Racial Slurs Can Be Criminally Prosecuted

Racial insults are classified as hate speech in South Africa. The Equality Act’s Sections 16 and 10 provide details on this.

According to The Guardian, a historic verdict in 2018 put Johannesburg resident Vicki Momberg behind bars for being the first South African to be imprisoned for her racist outburst.

Businessmen Adam Catzavelos, Kessie Nair, and Marcelle Maritz of Freedom Front Plus all made news in 2019 for their use of the K-word.
