In what may be his last competition, Rafael Nadal will compete for Team Europe at the Laver Cup in Berlin in September.
The Laver Cup in Berlin in September, which could be one of the last competitions of the 22-time Grand Slam champion’s career, will see Rafael Nadal represent Team Europe, the organizers confirmed on Monday.
After battling a hip injury that kept him out of the game for almost all of 2023 and the beginning of this season, Rafael Nadal, who turns 38 in June, has stated he believes this will be his last year on tour.
“I’m Thrilled to Be Playing,” Rafael Nadal Said.
At the 2022 Laver Cup, the Spaniard and Roger Federer played doubles as the Swiss star bid the sport a heartfelt goodbye during the team match.
Under coach Bjorn Borg, Nadal will team up with fellow countryman Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev, and Alexander Zverev as Europe looks to reclaim the Laver Cup from September 20 to 22.
In a statement, Rafael Nadal remarked, “I am very happy to be playing Laver Cup in Berlin for Team Europe.”
“I have a lot of incredibly unique recollections from my Laver Cup experiences, like all the feelings I had when I played alongside Roger for the last time in London two years ago.
“I really want to go out there and take advantage of every opportunity I am given at this point in my career.”
