The government of South Africa is trying to secure water security, as President Cyril Ramaphosa has informed the people.
He was speaking yesterday when he visited the Mpumalanga region of Ekangala, which is severely water-scarce.
For weeks, the people living in Ekangala and the neighboring areas of Emalahleni have been without water.
However, the issue is not limited to one area; Gauteng’s Hammanskraal is said to have been the most severely affected.
This issue also affects Soweto and the majority of northern KwaZulu-Natal, including Msinga.
According to President Ramaphosa, the lack of water affects the entire nation.
“Aging infrastructure makes it difficult to access water, but we’re not doing nothing—we’re just going to need more and more water.” We will find a solution, but it will take some time.
“We will deal with the water issues, which is why I also invited Senzo Mchunu, the Minister of Water and Sanitation, to join us. We will confront the water crisis head-on and be truthful with our people,” continues Ramaphosa.
