Remove Jacob Zuma From the MK Party’s Face, Jabulani Khumalo Orders IEC

Iec is Told by Jabulani Khumalo to Take Jacob Zuma Off of the Mk Party's Face.

Zuma’s “multiple acts of misconduct,” according to the party founder, have damaged the party’s reputation and confused the public.

Former president Jacob Zuma should no longer serve as the party’s face and be included on the list of possible Members of Parliament, according to Jabulani Khumalo, the founder of the recently formed uMkhonto we Sizwe (MK) party.

Khumalo said in a letter dated May 5 that Zuma had falsely held the roles.

Khumalo wrote to the IEC, “Under these circumstances, I request that the Electoral Commission remove Mr. Zuma’s name as the ‘face’ of MKP as soon as possible.”

Additionally, he ought to step down as MKP president right away. He uses dishonest and unlawful tactics to hold both roles.

On the MK party’s list of contenders for the National Assembly, Zuma is ranked first.

It appears that Khumalo is retaliating against Zuma, who kicked him out of the ANC in April. The MK party, which announced his expulsion, stated that they had acted on information that cast doubt on Khumalo’s behavior.

Khumalo launched a salvo, requesting that Zuma be taken off of the IEC’s lists in a letter. In a letter to Zuma, he also informs him that, due to what he describes as “several acts of misconduct,” he has been placed on precautionary suspension.

These have damaged the party’s reputation and confused both the MKP membership and the general public. In his letter to Zuma dated May 5, Khumalo stated, “In particular, you have purported to suspend me as the president of the party without following the procedures prescribed by the party constitution.”

You are hereby placed on precautionary suspension in light of the circumstances, pending the filing of disciplinary actions against you under the MKP’s constitution.

As Khumalo informed the IEC:

On September 3, 2023, he registered the MK party. Zuma’s only involvement with the party was through fundraising and consultations; it was agreed upon during the consultations that he would not join the party but would instead support the election campaign; Zuma was not a part of the interim leadership structure; and there were rumors that he was attempting to take over the party, which he denied.

Khumalo claimed on April 23 that he had been invited to a meeting with those who had been involved in the party but were not on the national executive committee. According to Khumalo’s letter, Zuma declared at this meeting that he would take over as the party’s president in place of Khumalo.

“A fake letter was written during that meeting and sent to the Electoral Commission stating that Mr. Zuma would be the MKP president and face and that I would no longer be on the list of candidates,” Khumalo wrote.

“I affirmed in a letter to the Electoral Commission that Mr. Zuma would serve as the party’s spokesperson. I never said that Mr. Zuma would lead the party as president.

“Mr. Zuma’s actions have damaged the reputation of the MKP and are in violation of the party’s constitution. Without following any formalities, he has allegedly removed me from my position as party head.

Khumalo informed the IEC that Zuma’s behavior will be promptly addressed by the MKP leadership structure.
