Reports Indicate that Six Fisherman are Missing at Sea

Six adult male fishermen who are reported missing after departing from Hout Bay and Hawston are being sought after amidst the great expanse of the sea.

Their boat, a grey Ballistic 7.8-meter RHIB named “Berta Fishing Experience,” has vanished, alarming friends, family, and the marine community.

Concerned family members informed the NSRI on Sunday morning after the fishermen failed to return. Additionally, this sparked a coordinated search.

Large-Scope Search for Missing Fishermen Started

A coordinated search operation has been managed by the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) ever since. The deep waters south and southwest of Cape Point, where the fishermen were last thought to be, are the focus of support operations from a number of authorities, including the Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA), NSRI units, and police services.

“A search involving the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) rescue craft, commercial fishing and motor vessels, and recreational fishermen has as yet yielded no signs of the missing men and their craft,” said Craig Lambinon, a spokesperson for the NSRI, in an interview with TimesLIVE.
