Robin Windsor a Strictly Come Dancing Professional Passes Away at 44

The news of Robin “Bobby” Windsor’s death at the age of 44 startled dance lovers in the UK. The cause of death is yet unknown.

Windsor was one of the original members of Burn The Floor, a dancing ensemble. His skill at Latin dancing was very impressive.

As a professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing, the UK version of Dancing With the Stars, he gained further recognition. The show featured Windsor from 2010 to 2013. When he needed surgery for a back problem, he was let go.

Windsor’s private life was well reported. In 2013, he had a brief engagement to Davide Cini, his ex-partner. But after their breakup, Windsor dated Marcus Collins, a participant on X Factor UK.

Windsor was a regular feature in the LGBTQ+ press, showing up on the covers of publications like Gay Times.

He was a strong supporter of mental health awareness and LGBTQ+ rights. Burn The Floor revealed Windsor’s passing this morning on Facebook.

The news was broadcast on television by Good Morning Britain co-anchor Suzanna Reid. Reid and Windsor performed a dance on a special charity Strictly Come Dancing episode. When she started to read the news of Windsor’s passing, she started to cry. Eventually, she asked her co-anchor to wrap up the piece.

Reid went on, “When I danced with him, I fell in love with dancing and with him.”

He was an amazing dancer who was very strong, really imaginative, and genuinely excited about dancing. I simply loved him; he had the most amazing demeanor and something very unique about him.

Former boyfriend Marcus Collins posted a message to Instagram, β€œThe World just got a lot less sparkly. Robin You were so loved πŸ’™πŸ’”β€

Awareness of Mental Health

In 2022, Windsor disclosed that having to leave Strictly had been a devastating blow to him.

“I didn’t choose to leave Strictly. They chose not to ask me back the next year after I had a terrible back procedure. I was physically fit, so it was presumably for my health and safety in case something went wrong.

He has been outspoken about his battles with mental illness.

In recent Instagram posts, he has shared images of himself performing aboard cruise ships throughout the globe. His most recent post featured a selfie in a poorly lit space with the caption, “Hiding in the shadows.” Under it, admirers have flocked to write their homages to him.

Additionally, Windsor has made appearances on Dancing with the Stars Australia and So You Think You Can Dance in Holland, but only in the UK. Come What May is a tribute to Moulin Rouge in which he recently starred.
