SA Election 24: ANC Takes the Lead With More Over 10% of the Vote Cast

By 9 a.m. on Thursday, the Independent Electoral Commission had around 10% of the votes from the fiercely contested election on Wednesday. Early on Thursday morning, ballot counting got underway.

Over 700,000 votes have been recorded as per the most recent update to the national results of vote capturing nationwide. With more than 296,000 votes, or 41% of the total, the African National Congress had the most support.

At this point, the Democratic Alliance had more over 189,000 votes, or 28%. Jacob Zuma’s MK party currently has over 52,000 votes, while the Economic Freedom Fighters have almost 56,000.

Currently, the Patriotic Alliance has about 35,000 votes. Out of more than 23,000 voting locations, the outcomes of 2,200 have been recorded.

Throughout the early morning hours in KZN, the results remained mostly unchanged. With more than 2,600 votes cast thus far, the MK party is in second place, ahead of the ANC, IFP, and DA. Voters in the province have cast more than 6,600 ballots.
