Salim Magoola, a rumored target for Kaizer Chiefs, has gotten a strong warning from his manager. This follows his expensive error in their 3-1 Nedbank Cup loss to SuperSport.

The Costly Mistake Made by the Target of Kaizer Chiefs

When Richards Bay’s team got a corner with just minutes remaining in the game and they were trailing SuperSport 2-1, goalie Salim Magoola charged forward. He was forced to pay as Matsatsantsa scored on the counter. When the DStv Premiership returns, coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi would be expecting more from the Ugandan stopper and couldn’t disguise his annoyance with him.

He needs to learn from this. I will not name the person, but I had one where he said that while it does happen occasionally, it does. Therefore, if he made a decision today, all he needs to do is make sure he doesn’t make the same error again. I believe he will learn a valuable lesson from it,” Vilakazi remarked.

“I might have been upset that maybe we won the game and this is what you do, so it was 2-1 and we were desperately trying to do something,” the player said. “Obviously, it’s not like it was a winning goal. Even as coaches, we occasionally decide to start a defense in the closing minutes of a game because we are hoping for a certain outcome. Thus, I believe that was a choice he made; all he needs to do is grow from it,” Vilakazi continued.

In the Nedbank Cup Clash, Natal Rich Boyz Off Color

Vilakazi bemoaned the fact that a few of his players had not performed up to par during the weekend.

“It was just wrong to let SuperSport score two goals because we were making things extremely difficult for ourselves.” To ensure that we leveled the score and won the match, we had to put in twice as much work. It was going to be really tough, but at 2-0, I thought perhaps I should give other players an opportunity. Even though we obviously wanted to progress, we’re still keeping an eye on the broader picture to ensure that we remain in the PSL.

In the early part of the 2022–23 season, Magoola was a notable player, but Bay has returned to earth in the top division of South Africa. In 16 games this season, Magoola has given up 21 goals while only keeping three clean sheets. Bay has just ten league games remaining, and they are seven points outside of safety.

Orlando Pirates Keen on Star Matsheke of the Old Kaizer Chiefs

Darrel Matsheke might finalize a transfer from Stellenbosch to AmaZulu or the Orlando Pirates as soon as this week, according to KickOff.com.

“He is not leaving until he receives his money; he is staying in Cape Town to finish his settlement. Stellenbosch is required to pay a two-month wage as part of the settlement amount as soon as possible. PSL teams have already expressed a great deal of interest. In KwaZulu-Natal is the other one. The source stated that he should complete the transaction before the end of this week.

Despite a season marred by injuries, Matsheke has made nine league appearances for Stellenbosch this year. After finding himself without a club, the 25-year-old defensive midfielder joined the Winelands team in October 2023. He also played on loan for Swallows for a whole year.
