SARB Warns That Inflation Risks Still Exist.

According to the South African Reserve Bank, there seems to be a continued risk of rising inflation.

Lesetja Kganyago, the governor of the Reserve Bank, made the comments on Tuesday during the Central Bank’s Monetary Policy Review in Johannesburg.

Statistics South Africa revealed this week that the country’s headline consumer inflation rate decreased to 5.3% in March from 5.6% in February.

“As the monetary Policy Committee we remain resolute in fulfilling our primary mandate to maintain price stability in the interest of balance and sustainable growth,” Kganyago stated.

“Our policy actions will always seek to anchor inflation and inflation expectations at all closer to the mid point of our target band.”
