Six Tips to Avoid the Risks of Load Shedding

  • Make sure your alarm system is operational and that the backup battery can power the system in the event of a load shedding.
  • A spare light or headlamp should always be in your car in case there is a power outage and you need to get home at night.
  • The majority of smartphones are equipped with flashlight or torch apps, which are useful in case of unplanned power outages.
  • Charge your tablet, laptop, and phone: When the power is supposed to go out, make sure your laptop, phone, and tablet are completely charged.
  • Then, as soon as the power comes back on, quickly recharge them. Additionally, have a power bank or other emergency phone charger close hand in case of prolonged power outages.
  • Gas for cooking and lighting: Purchase a small LP gas bottle and lamp for cooking and lighting. This will allow you to boil water and provide excellent illumination for a big area.
