The trial of a North West lady who is charged with killing her whole family has been rescheduled for June.

The delay was necessary to give social workers time to compile a pre-sentencing report on one of the prisoners.

Onthatile Sebati and her two co-accused were found guilty in January by the Pretoria High Court of killing Sebati’s parents and two siblings in 2016 at their Mmakau house close to Brits.

After Sebati admitted to planning the murders in December 2021, she named cousins Tumelo and Kagiso Mokone as her accomplices. The three were put on trial.

In what turned out to be a staged burglary, Lucky Sebati, a police officer, his wife Mmatshepo, their oldest daughter Tshegofatso—who was pregnant at the time—and their youngest kid Quinton were all shot and killed.

Following their apprehension, the cousins verified Sebati’s account.

The three were accused of killing someone, robbing someone under suspicious circumstances, and having ammunition and a gun without a license.

But all three eventually testified during the trial that they had been beaten and forced by the investigating officer, which resulted in a trial inside a trial.

Isaac Tlhapi, the investigating officer, had passed away in an automobile accident at the time of the trial inside a trial.
