Senzo Meyiwa Murder Trial

The five men accused of the murder of Senzo Meyiwa.

The confession statements that accused 1 and 2 are said to have made are still the main focus of the trial of the five men charged with killing Bafana Bafana goalie Senzo Meyiwa. Judge Vivienne Cronje, who disregarded the confession of accused 2 Bongani Ntanzi, gave a testimony at the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria on Monday, March 18.

The Senzo Meyiwa Murder Trial Is Proceeding

The court heard that accused 5 Fisokuhle Ntuli, a well-known hitman from KwaZulu-Natal, had contacted singer and Meyiwa’s then-girlfriend Kelly Khumalo prior to the hit while Cronje read the confession into the record. On October 26, 2014, Meyiwa was shot in Khumalo’s Vosloorus residence.

Furthermore, the purported confession disclosed that Ntuli supposedly paid accused 1 and 2 following the completion of the task. It is said that Khumalo paid the hitmen R100,000 to execute the hit.

In addition, the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria was informed that Ntanzi was afraid of his co-accused since, following the contract killing, they had allegedly threatened him. Lead investigator Brigadier Bongani Gininda disclosed that Ntanzi desired to enter into a plea agreement and testify against his co-accused during his evidence in the trial within a trial.
