MaMkhize, whose real name is Shauwn Mkhize, is a socialite, television personality, businesswoman, and philanthropist from South Africa.

The 2021/22 DStv Premiership season has seen her dominate the news as she acquired Bloemfontein Celtic, changed the team’s name to Royal AM, and moved the team to KwaZulu-Natal.

Outside of the game, Mkhize is most recognized for Kwa Mam’Mkhize, a reality TV series on Mzansi Magic.

Of course, there was also the lavish celebration of Royal AM’s victory, complete with expensive automobiles and large sums of cold, hard cash!

1. Born and reared in the KwaZulu-natal town of Umbumbulu, she was nurtured by her mother, Florence Mkhize, an anti-apartheid activist and veteran of the African National Congress. Her degree from what is now known as Durban University of Technology was a diploma in accounting.

2. In 1999, Mkhize wed Sbu Mpisane; however, the two separated in 2019. Andile is the boy they had when they were married. Sbahle was Mpisane’s daughter at the time of their marriage.

3. Mkhize debuted her reality TV program, Kwa Mam’ Mkhize, on Mzansi Magic in January 2020. The program showcased her kids and her entire family. The program won the 2020 Hollywood American Prestigious Awards for Best Reality TV Show.

4. She was first exposed to social media in 2020, and in less than eight months, she had amassed over one million Instagram followers. She is known as the “mother of the nation” by her devotees. Mkhize has more than 1.7 million Instagram followers as of the time of publication.

5. She received nominations for the Feather Awards in October 2020 for Socialite of the Year and Fag Hag of the Year.

6. She has mostly focused her charitable endeavors to date on assisting women and children in and around KwaZulu-Natal. Her efforts and achievements in business and philanthropy were acknowledged by the 2020 Hollywood and African Prestigious Awards, where she was named Woman of the Year.

7. She debuted in March 2021 as a mysterious, affluent woman who completes the purchase of the Kwa Mashu Kingdom Church on the SABC 1 soap opera Uzalo.

8. She worked with the Department of Correctional Services for labor and SABC 1’s Expressions in April 2021 to construct 20 houses for the impoverished with the aid of prisoners.

9. Throughout her career, Mkhize has encountered the law multiple times. She was found guilty of fraud after being charged with corruption, and at one point it was said that she owed the South African Revenue Service (SARS) more than R200 million.

10. Mkhize paid an estimated R50 million to acquire Bloemfontein Celtic, a PSL team, in the middle of 2021. The team was renamed Royal AM and moved to KwaZulu-Natal.
