Sivuyile Ngodwana, the Mayor of Ekurhuleni, was Dismissed From Office

Sivuyile Ngodwana was removed from office by the council on Thursday through a motion of no confidence, leaving the City of Ekurhuleni without a mayor.

After ActionSA’s second vote of no confidence in his leadership was approved, he was fired.

Three attempts to remove Ngodwana from his mayoral position were unsuccessful.

Siyanda Makhubo, the leader of ActionSA’s Ekurhuleni caucus, claims that the city is experiencing a serious financial and service delivery crisis, which is why the motion was tabled.

“Ngodwana will be remembered as the minority puppet Mayor of Ekurhuleni who did not hold his EFF MMCs accountable,” Makhubio says. “This is especially true of his finance MMC, Cllr. {Nkululeko} Dunga, whose reign of terror over the Ekurhuleni finance department left the City on the verge of going into administration.”

“ActionSA maintains that the City’s finances must be stabilized, the institutional reform must be swiftly carried out, and our citizens must receive high-quality services as soon as possible. This will necessitate a stable government that is not motivated by political expediency but rather competence,” he stated.
