PSL and Orlando Pirates chairman Dr Irvin Khoza.

Thabang Monare, a midfielder for Bafana Bafana, is expected to have his contract extended by Orlando Pirates. Monare joined the Buccaneers in 2020 and has since made 91 appearances for the team. The current deal of the former Bidvest Wits player is set to expire in June.

Monare recently competed in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations on behalf of Bafana Bafana. It is anticipated that the 34-year-old midfielder will play for the team for one more season.

The Bafana Bafana star will stay in Orlando Pirates

“Everything has been worked out according to a new contract that Monare will be under. As of now, everything is in order. He is content to remain at the club, and the club’s desire for him to stay is crucial, an insider told Citizen.

“The desire of coach Jose and the other members of the technical team for him to remain at the club is another crucial factor. There will only be a contract renewal; his previous agreement won’t be altered.

“Some players tend to receive salary cuts when they are in his position, but he is fortunate in that he will continue to receive his current salary.”

Linda Mntambo, a former star of the Orlando Pirates, is expected to receive a contract extension at Sekhukhune United. This season, the midfielder has only made two appearances for United. This resulted from ongoing injury issues. Mntambo is considered an important player for the team both on and off the field of play, despite his troubles with injuries!

As per the most recent sources, Mntambo is considered a “ambassador” by Sekhukhune United! Now, he’ll be rewarded with an extended deal.

United to Reward Former Bucs Star

Regarding the former Orlando Pirates player, an insider informed SoccerLaduma, “The club is happy with him and the way he has recovered.”

“They want to hang on to him as much as they can, because he is the club captain. For now, it’s two years because they’re taking his age into account as well. He will be 36 in 2027, making him 34 today. Thus, it’s not really a bad deal.

“He does a great job selling the squad. In order to market and promote the squad, they also need him off the field.

“He is no longer injured. He was the club’s face even while he wasn’t playing, but he can now play. That’s also the reason they want to retain him for a further two years,” the source said of the former Orlando Pirates player.
