The Case Against the VIP Cops of Mashatile is Back in Court in Randburg.

Pretrial proceedings in the case against eight VIP police officers, appointed by Deputy President Paul Mashatile, began on Monday at the Randburg Magistrate Court.

In July 2023, eight police officers were seen on camera assaulting drivers on the N1 in Johannesburg.

They are accused of a number of offenses, such as intimidating, causing malicious damage to property, assault with the aim to cause great bodily harm, and undermining the administration of justice.

To the accusations made against them, all eight have entered not guilty pleas.

Until the trial is over, the presiding magistrate has ordered that no media outlets may publish or air witness testimony.

On Monday, the case’s initial witness made a statement.
