The City Warns Drivers to Pay Any Outstanding Fines Before the Easter Holiday.

City issues warning to motorists

Drivers in Cape Town who have unpaid fines are advised that traffic police are “expected to be on high alert” as Easter weekend draws near. As Easter weekend approaches, the City of Cape Town reminds drivers to settle their traffic penalties.

Cape Town Motorists Should be Careful This Easter Season

As travelers prepare for long-distance treks across the country for Easter, traffic police are stepping up their crackdown on those who have outstanding fines. In a media statement on Sunday, March 17, 2024, the City of Cape Town reportedly announced that it will resume its traffic fine roadshow with the goal of “clearing 17,000 outstanding fines and 5,000 warrants.”

In order to reduce the possibility of running afoul of a roadblock, the City of Cape Town announced that the roadshow will provide drivers with the chance to “clear any outstanding fines or warrants, in a central location.”

The roadshow will be in the Cape Town Civic Center from Monday, March 25, 2024, to Wednesday, March 27, 2024, to help drivers with their unpaid fines. About R4.6 million was raised during the holiday season in December 2023, helping more than 2,000 people and settling 16,923 penalties and 5,150 warrants.
