The Court’s Sheriff Raids the Residence and Workplace of Diamond Magnate Louis Liebenberg.

Tycoon Louis Liebenberg

The sheriff of the Cape Town court has stormed the home of diamond tycoon Louis Liebenberg.

Additionally, there was a raid on the Kempton Park, Gauteng, diamond dealer’s office.

News24 reports that Liebenberg’s possessions, which included chairs and a refrigerator, were attached by the sheriff.

Liquidators of Liebenberg’s company Tariomix, also known as Forever Diamonds and Gold, ordered the raid.

According to the liquidators, they were searching for both movable and immovable assets that investors in Tariomix had funded.

Tariomix was placed into final liquidation by the Mahikeng High Court in the North West in April.

An Elaborate Fraud

Liebenberg and his business were cleared of charges in 2023 related to running a Ponzi scheme.

The State failed to present strong evidence to bolster its case, and as a result, the court decided to make this ruling.

Judge Selemeng Mokose claims that the State withheld information from the court in response to its accusations that the businessman engaged in illicit uncut diamond trading.

Due to accusations of making illicit diamond investments and other possibly criminal acts, Liebenberg’s bank accounts were frozen.

Liebenberg and his business were successful in claiming that the applicant acted unfairly and in bad faith by excluding their account of what happened, creating an imbalance.

Ambitions in Politics

Liebenberg received approval earlier this month to run as an independent in the 2024 elections.

In order to unseat the ANC and the DA, he declared that he intended to collaborate with the EFF, the uMkhonto Wesizwe Party (MKP), and other progressive groups.

Because he wants South Africans to share in the mineral wealth, Liebenberg stated that he had no trouble sponsoring the MKP, the EFF, Jacob Zuma, and any other parties or worthy persons.

He said that after more than 22 years of court fights, he had given at least R10 million to support the maintenance of his homestead and his legal bills.
