The Murder of Kaizer Chiefs Player Luke Fleurs Has Resulted in Six Arrests.

Luke Fleurs of Kaizer Chiefs Was Shot and Killed During a Hijacking

Six people have been detained by Gauteng police in connection with the reported hijacking and killing of Kaizer Chiefs player Luke Fleurs early on Wednesday morning.

A week ago, the 24-year-old, highly talented soccer player was shot and died during a hijacking at a gas station in the northwest of Johannesburg.

Fleurs was shot once in the upper torso when he was in a red VW Golf 8 GTI at the gas station on 14th Avenue, at the intersection of Hendrik Potgieter.

According to police spokesman Mavela Masondo, a squad lead by police criminal intelligence officers made the arrests of the suspects early on Wednesday morning.

“On Monday, the vehicle that had already been stripped was found, and in the early hours of Wednesday, the six suspects were located and taken into custody in Slovoville, Soweto.

“Police believe that the suspects are part of a syndicate that is responsible for car hijacking in Gauteng, and the search for more suspects is continuing.”

On Friday, the suspects are anticipated to appear in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court.
