A video of family members leaving the crime scene was shared by @MDNnewss. One of the relatives can be seen in the video sobbing excessively as another family member pulls her from the area.

Nine people were shot and killed in Mariannhill during a gunfight between them and the police, including the woman’s purported relative. The defendants were reported to have terrorized the town and were charged with horrific crimes like rape, murder, and home invasions.

South Africans Dismissive of Their Relative’s Tears

The relative’s emotional breakdown did not seem to affect online users.

The event took place away from a taxi rank. Four individuals were killed when gunshots were fired toward taxis by the occupants of a white BMW and a black Mercedes Benz. Three people were involved: a driver, a passenger, and a cab driver.
