The Seven Lower Division Sides that Defeated Kaizer Chiefs in the Nedbank Cup

Despite being the Nedbank Cup’s record winners, Kaizer Chiefs have also been sent packing on seven occasions by non-top flight teams.

On Sunday, Kaizer Chiefs’ season-ending Nedbank Cup loss to Milford FC on penalties was a magnificent way to go out.

The loss is ranked among the biggest upsets in South African football history (high up).

Even though Kaizer Chiefs have won the most trophies in the tournament—13—they have also been eliminated from the competition SEVEN times.

The following seven parties, according to OptaJabu, have all defeated the Glamour Boys since 2009:

2009: Pretoria University

FC Cape Town (2010)

2011: FC Baroka

2015: The Black Panthers

2019: The TS Galaxy

Richards Bay in 2021

Milford FC in 2024

When Kaizer Chiefs defeated SuperSport United 1-0 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban in 2013, they won the Nedbank Cup trophy for the first time.
