The Top 5 Most Sought-after Jobs in South Africa Are Listed Here

The top five industries in demand for jobs in South Africa are finance, administration, office and support, medical and health, and sales.

The Pnet Job Market patterns Report, which provides information on hiring and employment patterns in the South African job market, says as much.

According to the research, the most sought-after positions in South Africa are:

1. Wages and payroll (Finance)

2. Personal assistant (support, admin, and office)

3. Client/customer support (office, support, and administration)

4. Nursing and other professional healthcare services

5. Sales consulting and representatives

The top trending job sectors with year-over-year growth were manufacturing and assembly, architecture and engineering, and building and construction.

The building and construction industry showed a 14% rise in recruiting activity over the previous year. Even while hiring activity in the first two months of 2024 was muted, it is still more than it was a year ago.

Hiring activity in the engineering and architecture sector increased by 14% on a yearly basis.

The survey states that although hiring activity has somewhat decreased over the past three months, overall trends remain healthy with consistent employment possibilities.

Hiring activity in the manufacturing and assembly industry increased by 13% on a yearly basis. According to the research, November 2023 saw a spike in recruitment activity.

With the exception of November 2023, hiring has been steadily increasing in the manufacturing and assembly industry compared to a year ago.
