There is Only One Chiefs Player in the Large Bafana Bafana Team

Hugo Broos, the head coach of Bafana Bafana, has revealed the latest roster, and Kaizer Chiefs is once again very poorly represented.

Bafana Bafana is currently getting ready for two next international friendlies against Algeria and Andorra after placing third at the Afcon competition. For this “pilot project,” Hugo Broos has selected a preliminary roster of 32 players, notable among them being the only Chiefs player.

The matches, which will take place as a part of a FIFA tournament from March 18–26, 2024, will be Broos’ first team reunion since defeating the Democratic Republic of the Congo 6–5 on penalties in the Africa Cup of Nations third-place play-off.

On Thursday, March 21, Bafana will play their first game against Andorra. On Tuesday, March 26, they will play in Algeria, and the following day, they will go back home.

Bruce Bvuma is the sole Chiefs player in the expanded squad; he rejoins the Bafana Bafana team following some strong showings.

Other in-form players who return to the national team are Siyabonga Ngezana and Goodman Mosele; otherwise, it makes sense that much of the Afcon team has been kept.
