There Might be Conflicting News For Mzansi Drivers in April 2024, According to the Most Recent Gasoline Predictions

According to the Central Energy Fund’s (CEF) most recent fuel predictions for April 2024, drivers in South Africa might get conflicting news that month.

Mzansi drivers, particularly those who own diesel cars, were hoping for some relief at the gas pumps early in the next month after the month began looking dismal. But such hopes have been dashed by a recent spike in the price of Brent crude oil and a depreciation of the rand versus the US currency.

This announcement follows earlier this month’s rises in both gasoline and diesel prices. The most recent estimates, as of Thursday, March 21, 2024, as received from the CEF, are listed below.

Fuel and Price Change

Petrol 93 increased of 26 cents
Petrol 95 increase of 27 cents
Diesel 0.05% decrease of 28 cents
Diesel 0.005% decrease of 34 cents
Illuminating Paraffin decrease of 37 cents

An increase of 26 cents is anticipated for drivers of 93 octane gasoline and a rise of 27 cents for 95 octane gasoline if current market conditions hold for the balance of the month, which is unlikely given the volatility of the oil price and the rand/dollar exchange rate.

In the meantime, drivers of diesel vehicles would experience a drop of 28 to 34 cents per liter.

Lastly, it is anticipated that illuminating paraffin will drop by 37 cents.
